letter of invitation

Dear Colleague,

The International Congress of Radiation Research, which is held every four years, will next convene in San Francisco, July 8–12, 2007. The San Francisco Cancer Congress, a biennial meeting of some 500 radiation oncologists, will also hold its meeting jointly with this Congress, bringing the expected number of registrants to approximately 2,000. We are writing to inform you about this meeting and to enlist your support and that of your company. The mixture of laboratory scientists representing biology, physics, chemistry and medicine, and clinicians, including a large number of radiation oncologists, will make this a great venue showcasing your systems and products.

The scientific program at these congresses covers all of the major disciplines of radiation science, including physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. The relative contribution of these different disciplines to the program varies a little between the different congresses. For example, although radiation oncology has been a strong component in past congress programs, it is expected to be much more prominent at the San Francisco Congress because the San Francisco Radiation Oncology Conference will be holding its meeting. Major themes of interest to radiation oncologists at the Congress will be molecular imaging and therapeutics, particle therapy and combined modality approaches with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

The organizers are proposing several levels of support. Siemens Medical has generously agreed to be the Principal Supporter of the Congress. Other support levels are available as shown in the attached information. Please give this proposal your full consideration and allow the organizers the opportunity to discuss it with you in more detail. Preliminary conference information is available at www.icrr2007.org.

Sincerely yours,

Theodore Phillips, M.D.
President

J. Martin Brown, Ph.D.
Secretary-General
